AT&T Global Wi-Fi App Reviews

Less than useless

The AT&T app developers clearly arent interested in user feedback because the issues we see as global travelers have no easy path to be shared with them... and then get corrected...

What a drag.

In the heart of London and it fails to connect me to literally dozens of options. Tried when I got a data warning. Ironic. Thanks for nothing, AT&T.

Worthless

I cant begin to express how terrible this app is. It simply doesnt work, not as advertised or any other way. In point of fact, it almost seems as if it exists to lead one to believe they will be online via one of the hundreds of hot spots that scream at you from the screen (Dublin was my location) all the whole youre eating up data, never connected to a single hot spot. Ive been with ATT since my first cell phone a hundred years ago. This app and the experience with customer service to address the issues was so terrible I contemplated leaving ATT. I still may. I say that, not as some useless threat to a multi national company but, rather, to illustrate the level of annoyance this useless app caused for the first 3 days of my vacation. I solved the problem by no longer relying on it to operate in any hot spot. Once I accepted its uselessness, my annoyance ended. Save time, dont even bother to download it. International access I will have to address through moving from att or exploring local non-contract cell options in my destination.

Completely and Totally Worthless

Refuses to log you you in even to networks that it identifies as being part of its plan. Thanks for nothing AT&T

Useless

This app is absolutely useless. It will connect you to the Wi-Fi hotspots, but then it just spins and spins and spins. Though it says you are connected, you cannot do anything.

Does not work!

I work for a computer software company, so I have some basic tech sense. Could not get this app to work on ANY of the supposed partner services. Every one of them asked for additional payment. I could have saved the money and just paid for Wi-Fi access individually from others as needed.

Non functioning. Useless!

Went on a trip to Asia and it would never connect to any signals it should have automatically connected to. And you cant manually connect. Designers of this application clearly are not travelers!

Dont waste your money

I went back to Scotland for my nieces wedding in October this year. So my husband and I went into AT&T bought the package. The only time it worked was when I was in a wifi network, which I thought thought this app was supposed to do with or without wifi. Totally dissatisfied with this app

Do NOT waste your money!

Services are a joke. Minimally (as in, count on one hand) available hot spots in Europe. Why they dont partner with Telekom, or other Euro based service is beyond me. Tried this for the last couple years - visited again this year so decided to try again - thinking AT&T surely would have made improvements. Ha! Wrong! Save your dollars and connect with another service.

Terrible for international travel

AT&T has provided consistent, terrible support when it comes to using their services internationally. Regardless of this app, head to T-Mobile if you intend to travel and want a phone company that will be there for you and not try to screw you throughout the entire process.

Zero reliability.

Terrible. Works one minute, fails the next. Im already getting gouged on global roaming data fees, and this app adds insult to injury by promising relief that never arrives. Try again, AT&T. Please.

Mediocre But Necessary

Well, if you are an ATT subscriber, then this is the only method for connecting to international WiFi spots. In that sense, it is a nice feature. Unfortunately, there are many limitations. Coverage is poor (nothing in Heathrow, for example) and it doesnt function on any device that isnt already connected to ATT network such as a WiFi only iPad or a Win10 Surface PC. This service could be really nice but implementation is well below alternative options.

Ripoff

Dont waste your money. Hotspots are minimal.

Zero Stars Really

I visited Rome, Florence, Lucern, Paris, London, Barcelona & Madrid recently - the passport did nothing for me. I solely relied on finding wifi at restaurants, shops, etc. $40 down the drain. My friend had T-Mobile - worked perfectly.

Terrible app

App wont even show you where the hotspots are, before you leave

Great app and concept

Not sure what other reviewers are referring to when saying there are "only a handful" of hotspots in Europe. There are hundreds in London alone. What this app does is installs a profile on your iPhone which contains credentials for wi-fi networks scattered throughout the world. Your phone will then connect to these networks as if you had connected to and saved them yourself. The app also offers a zoomable map that shows all available hotspots. You need an AT&T Passport plan enabled for this to work.

Does not work

Yes the app shows thousands of hotspots. However, when using my iPhone with this app and my wifi only iPad it is clear that the app (when it works) is slowing down the connection. Now myatt wont recognize my PW or username or email. I have an unlocked phone. I wasted 60 dollars and had to buy a European chip to get anything to work. Att has the worst customer service. Dont do it. I read the reviews after I bought the passport service. Garbage.

Worthless

This app is totally worthless and should not even take space on your phone. I have tried it in Rome, Singapore, Tokyo, Paris and New Delhi. Not a single time was I able to connect to any of the hot spots it recommended. Yes, it connected automatically to some hot spots, but a network password was still required. Lucky that I carried my iPad, many times that was the only way to connect to a wireless network.

Pretty useless in Asia and Spain

I concur with many of the previous reviewers. Ive used this app in Taiwan, HK, Singapore, Malaysia and Spain. The coverage is extremely spotty. And when you finally connect to one, it is not reliable. Basically, in every occasion where I find myself needing wifi connection, Im better off using the free wifi publicly available at coffee shops, museums, libraries and such. I dont recall any instance where I said thank god I have this app.

Waste of money

Waste of money. Could not connect to hotspots in Tokyo. Kept getting prompted for password that AT&T tech support was clueless about. Came back totally disgusted with AT&T. Paid for the passport plan and downloaded the profile, but the ability to join the wifi hotspots and get a connection just wasnt there. It was also not reassuring that none of the AT&T support staff appeared familiar with their own plan and how it supposed to work. Seems like the marketing staff came up with it and didnt bother to see if customers would actually get a real service.
